This is so cool! It's amazing that the bird could figure this out! The man who was testing the bird said that he had never seen any bird behave like this before. I am taking this to mean that this crow is significantly smarter than other crows. This might have something to do with the fact that he was raised in a place were scientists study bird behavior, and he has most likely been through several tests before. I am guessing that this means it learns from experience, and the tests have only made it smarter. Also, I am wondering if crows in general are smarter than other kinds of birds. Birds exhibit different kinds of intelligence, such as this crow with his reasoning, or, for example, how parrots can learn to mimic human speech. This is a great example of how life forms can learn from experience. In conclusion, this video was so cool. 10 out of 10 stars!

Wow! Although I am much less experienced with testing birds and their intelligence than the man in the video, I still totally agree with him that I have never seen anything like it! I've always thought that crows were never the greatest masterminds in the history of animals and birds in general. I have always seen them as black birds with sharp beaks who sit on trees and make loud noise, but this video has proven me completely wrong, well not completely. They still sit in trees and make loud noise. But something on top of all that that I didn't know before watching this video, is they can also solve critical problems that put their tiny bird minds to the test!

This article was very interesting. Some people call people who are not very smart "bird-brained", implying that first off, birds are supposedly not smart, and second off, that the person has a bird's brain. This new evidence shows that being "bird-brained" is in fact a compliment, because birds, especially crows, are very smart. Adding on to what Lilah said, it is very true that other types of birds show great intelligence. For example, some types of mockingbirds are also able to mimic the tones of things that they hear. Crows have a good memory too. There was an event in which a couple of crows saw a couple of hunters go into a structure out of which the hunters can shoot from. The crows flew away, and would not come back until they saw all of the hunters leave the structure. A study also found that crows can memorize faces, and if they were owned, they would make a certain sound only when the owner was present. I give this article 10 out of 10 points!

This was really amazing. I knew that crows were smart and all, but I didn't know that they were exactly the smartest bird. Also, you wouldn't think that they're the smartest because they're plain black birds that eat garbage and make a lot of noise. It's really interesting. I watched the video where the crow solved the puzzle, and I was surprised that it finished it pretty quickly. Honestly, I don't think I could've done that. Every stage of the puzzle it completed, I was more and more fascinated. Who knew that out of all the species of birds, a crow is the smartest? I wonder how it can figure things out like that. I also wonder what goes on in their brain when they're first shown the puzzle. How do they act in the wild? Overall, I thought that both the video and the article were really cool, and I would love to know more about it.

I read Tyra's comment and I thought that it was really cool how the crow react at different occasions. I knew that the crows would fly away until the hunters were gone, but I never knew that if they had an owner, they would make a certain sound only when their owner was near. That was a really interesting fact.

I think that it is really weird and cool that a bird out of all animals could solve this. I think that it would take longer for some humans to figure that out. One thing that I was wondering is if all crows are that smart. I would definitely want to see more videos like this. I give this video an A.

Goodness, It is amazing how this bird can think. It got through all of the steps. I think that the bird's brain might even be smarter than the human brain, which could be true, but very unlikely. I always thought that crows were stupid animals, but apparently I am completely wrong. After the video, I saw that crows are one of the smartest bird in the world, and how amazing they can be. It even knew that it could take a stick, poke into some bars and take a stone. It even know to take the stone and put it into some contraption. It might even take humans longer to figure that out. I certainly wouldn't figure that out as fast as the crow figured the puzzle out. I think that it is amazing that birds, out of all animals, could figure this puzzle out!

I never knew that crows were that smart. It's amazing that they can do something that is difficult for humans. It's also very interesting how crows can recognize faces, communicate details of an event to each other and even avoid places they recognize as dangerous. I wonder if pigeons and crows are as smart as each other because pigeons were carrying pigeons with secret messages in the World War. I think that crows and pigeons are the smartest birds, but crows are probably smarter. I think crows should have also been used to carry secret messages. Overall, I would rate this article an 8 out of 10 because it had good information, but it should have had more information abd they could have also explained more.

Once I saw this video my mind was officially blown. I was speaking to my sister about this course and she would not believe me. Once I showed her the video, she was absolutely in awe of what she had just seen. I agree with Tyra, birdbrain is actually a compliment. The obstacle course was extremely confusing and if I were a bird I would not know what to do and just keep pecking at the box with the bars on it. The tests that these crows have taken must increase their brainpower and raise their intelligence rate. It was incredible how the crow first realized the wooden stick at the bottom of the string and decided to get out the stones. I would definitely not have known to put the square stones in the plastic compartment. The way that the obstacle was designed was absolutely superb and what was even more extraordinary was when the crow solved it!

This bird is amazing! At first I though a bird could never do that, that is ridiculous. But I regret what I said. The main questions that I am asking is: just how smart are these birds? I also agree with Liza as well. I always thought that crows just sat on a tree and chirped all day long. I never knew they could really do these amazing things. In conclusion, I really liked this video and I also learned a valuable lesson: never, ever judge a book by it's cover.

I never thought crows were that smart. When I was smaller, my parents would always tell me crows are smart birds, but I never knew they were this smart. I was looking at the puzzle for a second and trying to figure it out, but then the crow just starts doing it. It is really amazing what this bird can do. It was trial and error. First, the bird got the stick, but it was too short. Than the bird got all three rocks and put it in a glass compartment to get a longer stick. Finally, the bird got its food. I can't believe a crow did all that in about three minutes. What really is amazing, is the crow just started doing the puzzle after think about it for about five seconds. I really liked the video because if I just read the article, I would not have believed it. Now I do. I would give the article a 9 out of 10.

This was amazing! That bird must be a super genius because if I was given that puzzle, there is no way I would have solved it. The bird had not seen this puzzle before, but had practiced with other puzzles, giving him practice. I think the bird got the hang of the way most of the puzzles work, step by step. Really cool video!

Wow! This bird is amazing. I don't know if I could even figure this out. It was really interesting that this was the only crow the man had observed with this level of intelligence. I also found it fascinating how the crow was almost weighing its options before each step. I also wonder what the crow was thinking when he put the stones down, then picked them up again. I think that this bird's actions were very human-like. The fact that it made decisions and actually had a real thought process was so cool! I wonder if other types of burds can do this. I know that parrots are fairly intelligent because they can "talk", but I wonder what would happen if you were to put a parrot in the same situation. Would it be just as successfull as the crow? I also would like to know if this is the only test it has ever been through. If so, I am even more impressed. I would love to learn more about crow intelligence. I give this article and video 9/10 stars because it was missing some information. But if anyone ever calls me a bird-brain, I'll take it as a compliment!

I found the video extremely interesting. If there wasn't a video and all it said was that a bird had done those obstacles, I never would of believed it. Even though the bird had been training for that, they still put it in a different order. I even would have been surprised if the bird could just do the tasks in the order he had been practicing. In the article, it said that this was not the first time a bird has done something like this. Apparently, birds (such as crows) can identify faces, explain events to other birds, and even sense where danger might be lurking. Like all the other people who saw the video, I would give it a high grade. Unfortunately, I just can't give it an "A", due to the fact that they named the bird the most inappropriate name a bird could ever have.

I anyone wants to read more about smart birds: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bird_intelligence

I was amazed at the sight of this! I never knew crows, the birds who are known for there spooky appearence on halloween, could be so intellegent with solving puzzles. I wonder how this would go for other birds. What would they do in the puzzle. As we could see in the video, the crow did not have a room for the puzzle. He was in a large cage. Insead of flying frompoint a to b to c. He saw something interesting in the maze. For such a small brain, they are basically the einstiens of birds. Normal birds can't even pay attention to you when you are admiring them. This is really a wonderful bird, I hope everybody in the world can see this video.

That was INSANE!!! That was so cool that the bird could figure that out. I bet I could not even have figured it out that fast. To solve that puzzle, I would have had to look at it for a while poke around a little bit and then find the short stick was the start point and then I could get to work. After that I would have had to try the short stick on every single obstacle before I could figure it out, but the bird, no, I don't have time for that. The bird just knew exactly what to do!! I was astonished. Plus they have such small brains! The sperm whale has an 18 pound brain. I bet the computing power to size of brain on the crow is a whole lot better than on the sperm whale.

OH MY GOD!!! I can't believe what this bird did! I didn't know that any other animal besides humans could figure this out. In fact, there are probably some humans that can't do this. It's simply amazing that the bird could process what he needed to do and how he needed to do it so quickly and in the moment. I'm not sure if the bird has been trained on these separate tasks, but I don't think that that is the case. Also, I'm so surprised on how the crow was able to complete the tasks just using just his beak. He is probably one of the only animals in the world besides humans that can use their own special body parts to manipulate the sticks, rope, and stones like that so easily. It did the tasks with such ease!
I am wondering, though, if crows are the smartest type of animal (excluding primates), or if there is a different animal that is smarter.
I think the article could have been better, but the video was quite amazing. I give the video 5 out of 5.

This video reminds you that humans aren't the only smart organisms in the world. It is amazing how it was motivated by the food, but still didn't go crazy and try to extend as far as possible to reach the food with the stick. How it was able to figure out that it had to get the stones out and drop them in the box to get the longer stick was just incredible! I always thought that crows weren't smart, and neither were pigeons, until a while ago. This video reminded me of the moment where I appreciated that other organisms in the world that were intelligent creatures. How was this crow able to solve such a complex puzzle, and further realize what it had to do in just a few seconds? I could go on and on about how astounded I was by this crow. Just how big are their brains! Wow. Just like what Lilah and others mentioned, there are so many other birds that have amazing abilities. Some birds can repeat sounds while others can see more colors than we can! I just love this video!

This is really crazy. It really boggles my mind how he could know to do that. I love birds and although I do not know as much as that man, to see something like that is so amazing. Although the puzzle is tricky, I think some of it was repetition and that might have been what made him succeed in solving the problem. I recently saw a crow making a lot of noise and it was really annoying me. I looked at it with disgust and thought in my mind they are good for nothing and are just bad luck. Now I know that some of them are extremely smart.

Wow-ee, wow wow! This bird is really the smartest thing I've ever seen. I don't know if I could've been able to solve that puzzle! The bird really knew what he/she was doing, and didn't even stop to think! I agree with Lilah's question: Could other kinds of birds also be this smart, or is it just possible with a crow? Overall, I'd definitely give this video a 10/10!
