I thought that this game is very interesting and complex. I had no idea that those undergoing knee surgery had so much don't to them. It's cool how I never would have guessed you would do half of this stuff yet it makes perfect sense. However, some things were not explained, like why does the patient's temperature matter, how does that affect the patient's knee, why are the leg parts parts plastic, and why. I also looked at the surgical pictures, but nothing was very clear so I can't write anything about that.

This was a very detailed game with a real life situation. I like how they had play-by-play instructions so you didn't mess up. The mini tests were easy if you listened to what he said during the surgery. I was surprised at all of those sterile sheets that were used! I had no idea you needed that many to construct a clean knee operation. I found it kind of weird but cool that the doctor initialed his name on the operating knee. I didn't know that there was gas to make you forget the surgery as well as sleeping gas inside the IV/mask. The surgical pictures were detailed and helped answer some of my unanswered questions.

I loved this game! I am a forensic science girl, so this game was very easy for me. My favorite part was when you had to use the rongeur to snip off bone spurs and the ACL. I also looked at the pictures of the actual knee surgery, it was very interesting that they use the exact steps used in the game. I respectfully disagree with Charlotte on the fact that the doctor practically gave you the answer when you did something wrong because I wanted to see what happened if you did something wrong. How would it affect the patient or the surgery? Also, when you play the game again it is just the same story about the old man and the same vital signs. In conclusion, I really liked this game, but there were some flaws too.

I found this game very educational and fun at the same time, which was good. I really liked how we got to put the cement on the patients knee. I also liked how the doctor asked us questions about the operation to see if we were paying attention. I think it would have been more involving if there had been some difference in the operation, when one or more of the questions had been answered incorrectly. This change would have made the game more interesting too. I also looked at the pictures of the actual knee surgery and like Emily, it surprised me that the patient would undergo the exact same steps in real life, as it did in the game. I thought that was really interesting too. In conclusion, I really liked the details and facts in this game, even though it could have been a little bit better.

I think that was a very great game at the same time being educational. It was fun operating on the patient's knee, and if I got something wrong, it didn't really affect someone because this was just for practice. Like Sophia, I think that if we would have done something wrong, they could have just continued the operation with your mistakes, and then you could see the final product of the operation how you operated the knee. This could explain how important it is to know what you are doing and to be careful. I think that this operation could have explained in the steps why you were doing each step. I really liked this game because it had a lot of details.

I think that this game was very fun while still educational. It was a little gruesome - because you had to cauterize veins and staple skin - but not unbearable. For those with a strong heart and stomach, there were pictures of real knee surgeries. This game consisted of putting drapes on the leg, cutting open the leg and keeping it open, drilling and shaping the femur, tibia, and patella, entering trial components and testing their viability, and then cementing the final, permanent components. The narrator walked you through every single step, which made it very easy to succeed. I really liked this game.

That was very interesting. I had NO IDEA that making a knee replacement could be that complicated. I know all of the parts of making a knee replacement now, though I can't say that I would be able to make another one on a Real person. It showed exactly what to do, and it had questions to make sure that you actually understood what you were doing. My favorite part was opening up the knee. I agree with Emily, what happened if you did something wrong? Anyways, overall, I really liked this game

I thought that this surgery was very interesting. One thing that they shouldn't of showed was actual pictures of a surgery. I wonder how they got such good pictures, did they take pictures during an actual surgery, becuase then they would have to pause. Overall, the experience was very interesting.

This knee surgery game was very fun to play as well as realistic, considering it was a cartoon. I didn't dare look at the pictures of real life surgery, as the cartoon version was just above tolerable. I also found it very educational, as I feel like only now can I cure a broken leg

I thought that the game was very interesting although I thought that it was a little bit to disgusting for kids. The game was very educational. I learned how to give knee surgery. After this game I also learned that I could never be surgen because I thought that the cartoon was disgusting and real surgery would be even more disgusting. Overall I give this game a 6 out of 10.

I thought this game was very cool. It made it feel like real life. I had no idea that they covered the patient in so many layers of plastic. What I did not like is that they do not let you make a mistake. If you made a mistake you should have been able to make the mistake, but it would make a noise. The pictures of the real knee surgery were very gruesome. At first, I thought they were fake but after a while I realized they were real (when I saw the skin of the knee I realized that)

I thought that this surgery simulation as well as the surgery photos were very interactive and interesting. I lived looking at the steps taken for a knee surgery so I decided to look up other surgeries. I found these extremely fascinating. I did a brain, hip, and abdominal surgeries. Overall I really enjoyed this site.

This was a very interesting game. It was very complex and I have never played anything like it. My knee started hurting half way through the game. I will admit, I did a horrible job. I love how they turned a knee surgery into a fun game.

I thought that this game is very interesting. It is also very helpful. Instead of just reading about the process, you can have a part in it. It is good for kids too, because it can teach them how a knee is replaced and why you have to do certain things. I liked how it had play-by-play instructions so that you could know what to do and not make any mistakes. I also liked how they told you not just the process but the preparations too. I also liked how they did not make it too graphic. This is a truly interesting game, that can help kids learn about something they don't learn about every day.

This game was REALLY COOL! It was awesome to see how to preform surgery on a knee. This reminds me of Room 4 when we did a game where we needed to preform a heart replacement surgery. That was really cool, too. It's cool that there are so many games out there that can contribute to society by teaching children skills that they may need later in life. This game was very detailed, and even included real life knee surgery photos. Also, by providing information about each of the tools and inserting quizes after many of the steps, they helped add to the expirience. It was somewhat stressful, however, even if you weren't under a time constraint.

This was a great game. It was fun and educational as well. I never even thought that's what would have happened with knee surgery. It was fun to also play the role of a doctor for a day. I think this is a great simulator for people who want to become a doctor. It taught me a lot about knee surgery, especially the questions that pop up throughout the game. The actually surgery in real life however is much more complicated. For example, when you cut part of the knee of a patient, you will have to be very gentle. You would not like to make the cut slanted, or put the cement in the wrong area. It is much more complicated than just picking a tool and clicking on the bone. Although this game was somewhat gross for some people, it is a great simulator for everyone to try out.

This website is very educational and entertaining. Most people cannot find websites like this. I have been on this website before and I still am learning about the surgery process. I am glad that I have used this website so I can do this much more often.

I really liked the fact that the game explained everything thoroughly so that it was easy to understand. I also enjoyed how the pictures were so accurate, and resembled a real knee/brain (I did the brain stimulation activity as well). It was really cool to be able to experience doing a surgery like that without needing to go through: 1. Five hundred years of medical school 2. Seeing all the gross blood and stuff. It's also great that I could do this because my dad is an ER doctor (funniely, his name is Ed... like the name of the program, "Ed heads"), and so I was able to talk to him about how I did what he does at work everyday! In conclusion, I'm really happy that people had this great idea to make this awesome program, because it was an amazing experience to be able to try it, and I can't wait to explore more!

I'd like to respectfully disagree with Emily's point. Firstly, I think it was very helpful to have the doctor giving you a play-by-play instruction of what to do, because the activity wasn't about knowing what to do, it was about getting to experience it and possibly learn it for help in the future. Also, Emily said that when you play the game again it's just the same man. And yes, but that's not a flaw. There's a point to that. If you click on "Explore" it gives you a big variety of different kind of surgeries you can perform on a patient, and there's a different person for each one. For example, when I did the brain stimulation, the patient was an attorney named Ellen. As you can see, with this activity, they gave a lot of more details about the patient (like her job, her name, exactly why she needs surgery and details, etc.) because it was necessary with this specific surgery.

I thought that this game was very fun but still educational, and I enjoyed playing it a lot. When I first clicked on the game, I had no idea how to perform a knee surgery, so I wasn't sure if this was going to be the easiest game or not. Thankfully, this game guided me step by step, and I knew exactly what to do. I liked how it asked me fun little questions about knee surgery, and honestly, I learned a lot. Before this game, I had no clue how many steps you had to take to complete a clean and healthy knee surgery. I also looked at the knee surgery pictures. I bet that if I looked at the pictures before I played the actual game, I would have no idea what is going on because all there I see is mush and blood, but because I played the game, I understood what was going on and it was really interesting. My favorite part of the game was probably the part where they drilled holes into the bones, and also used the mallet hammer to attach a jig. Same with Sam's question, how would the patient's temperature matter and concern the knee surgery? Also, didn't the game creators think that this game might have been too gruesome for some kids? Despite the small flaws of the game, I give this game 5 out of 5 stars. Thank you for sharing this!

I enjoyed playing this game. Then again, I like playing games that are fun and still teach me about something. It did a good job teaching me about knee surgeries yet still letting me have a fun time. It was very interactive. I'm amazed at how much of the knee that they cut off! I hope that I never injure my knee badly because I don't want to go through this. I do wish the game gave a little more information because I didn't really understand the surgery that well. It could have explained to me more what I was doing when I was doing it. Also, it would be better if there were different patients that you could to work on. I definitely enjoyed it, but it could have been better. 3.5 out of 5.

I thought this game was really fun and educational at the same time. It was fun to experience a knee surgery without actually having to be there. It is a good preparation for the future, and I think that this would be good for students prepping for a surgery. I looked at the surgery photos, and I was surprised to see how similar they were to the virtual surgery. I was also shpcked to see how exact the bone sawing was. When I was playing the game, I kind of thought to myself, "the bones can't actually be that chiseled, can they?" But I was wrong! It was also interesting to see how realistic the virtual tools and parts were. They were almost identical to those in the real photos. Overall, I give this game a 9/10 because there were a few parts that could have been slightly better.

I enjoyed this activity, and it allowed insight into a topic that is mostly overlooked. I was able to learn from this article the difficulty involved in being a surgeon. Although a knee surgery may be simple compared to other surgeries, it in itself is a process with multiple steps. What I think is most impressive is the accuracy and calmness of the surgeons. They see gruesome and bloody sights but are still able to remain calm and continue working. Also, they remain calm despite the fact that they could make a mistake that could render the patient unable to walk forever. Lastly, they would have to live with it if there was a tragic accident. I was lucky enough to meet with two doctors, and their opinion on knee surgeries is the following: Knee surgeries, and surgeries in general have revolutionized the way we act. They can be beneficial and help you, but the moment that the skin is opened, you (the patient) are at risk for any accident that happens. From hearing this, I was thought about the dangers of surgery, and sometimes, depending on the danger level, it may not be the best for you. The activity itself was great. I liked how it asked questions and prompted you to chose the right one. Most of us are hands on learners, so it helps to have this.I would have liked more background information/history, and a separate reaction if you did something wrong.

I must say that I really enjoyed playing this game. This topic is usually overlooked when it comes to surgeries dealing with more important bones or organs. I've learned that being a surgeon is very hard and can take a lot of patience and practice, one fatal mistake can render the patient completely immobile. Every time a knee surgery patient enters the Operating Room they are at risk of a failed surgery. The surgeons clearly must remain calm during the operation, as I looked at the actual surgery photos and even though they isolate the surgical field to stop blood flow and other accidents it can still become rather gruesome. The game itself was very interesting and fun to play, and the quizzes were easy because he guided you through the tutorial. Even though I didn't mess up, I wanted to see what would happen if I selected the wrong answer and I like how the guide will correct you if you make a mistake to make the process fun and worry free. I love hands on experiments so I enjoyed this a lot more than reading an article.

This game was so engaging and perfect for kids who want to become doctors, or anyone that likes to know how to perform knee surgery. Just like many have said, it takes a lot of patience and practice to not get worried and consequently make a fatal error. This surgery can be very simple, yet each step must be taken with caution to avoid any mistakes. I took a look at the actual photos to get an idea of what it can really be like, and I thought it would be so much more bloody, messy, and just gross. On the other hand, you could see each step and relate it to the virtual, bloodless surgery that you had conducted a second ago. I took great notice in how certain steps were taken to ensure that there was no possibility or any error when drilling and cutting into the bone. This game was so intriguing that I took a look at some of the other surgeries like the hip replacement surgery. Just like the knee surgery, many steps were taken to make sure that everything went as planned, but in this surgery there were many more steps. I wondered why some of the steps were needed in this process, and then I understood that doctors really care for their patients and want the best for them even though they can be complete strangers or crazy people that they hate. Technology can be so useful when educating people at different ages, and I wish there were more games like these.

I thought that this was very interesting. It taught us the different steps in surgery. I liked placing all the parts, and the answers to the questions were very fascinating. The that scared me is having this surgery on me. I liked how if you messed up an a step or a question, the game made you repeat it to learn. This is what I thought of this game.

I must say I was a little creeped out by this game. However it was also very interesting. I liked how real it was, and how it covered pretty much everything. Some of the things they do in knee surgery confuse me, I mean cement, cement of all things??? Still a very fun and educational game that can work for a wide variety of age. The surgery itself was splendid, but the rest was a bit of a yawn. I'd rate this game a 9 out of 10. A 5 out of 5 in education, and a 4 out of 5 in entertainment.

I personally enjoyed this knee-replacement procedure very much. I loved how you could interact and learn how to perform knee-replacements simply by being guided through the steps of procedure and by using different tools to assist you through the surgery. My mom is a doctor, so I am used to the blood. I give this game 9.5 out of ten stars.
