I thought that this was a super cool game and enjoyed playing it very much. Although I don't like blood, the cartooned animation did not make this awesome game gruesome. This game stood out to me because I did the knee surgery, and loved it. I enjoy these games because they are educational, but still fun. I looked at the pictures (of the real surgeries) and thought that it was pretty gruesome. Glad I don't have to have a surgery like that! This game taught me a lot between the live interaction, and the educational questions. I really enjoy and look forward to playing these games throughout the Ms. Ghazarian blog, and overall, I think that this games deserves about a nine out of 10 star ranking. I look forward to playing more of these fun and educational games!

This was a very entertaining and educational game. I really liked that the surgeon told us about our patient before we started. I also liked that we were given the measurements of the tools that we would later be placing in the surgery. Another thing that I liked about this game was how real it looked. I think that this is really essential to a game like this because otherwise it isn't really that helpful. I also found it fun that we were able to look at pictures of a real surgery afterwards. I would rate this game a 9 out of 10 stars.

Since I did not do the first Edheads surgery posted on the blog (knee surgery) this was my first "operation". Normally I would be a bit squeamish even though this was a cartoon. I went into the operation, expecting that I might pull out in the middle from squeamishness. However, I actually managed to complete the whole thing and it was a lot of fun! I really like that this is a fun and educational game. I enjoyed that throughout the interactive surgery, the doctor gave you little multiple choice questions to see if you knew the crucial information. I did not look at the real life surgery photos. I was most glad that the cartoon images in the game had minimal blood because 1. of course I am squeamish, and 2. it allowed for a better view of the muscles and bones inside the hip, which created a better learning opportunity. Overall, my first "surgery" was a fun success and made me want to go back and do the knee surgery as well!

I really liked playing this game. I think that it was really fun while being very educational. I not only learned how to do hip surgery I learned some parts of the hip that I did not know before I played the game. In the game there were some parts, like popping the ball into place, that I didn't get to do. I didn't even get to watch the game do it. I was wondering why. I really like when games like this are on the blog. I really like playing games like this. Overall I give this game a 10 out of 10.

I agree with Ally and Sophia. This game was educational and fun, and since, like Ally, I also did the virtual knee surgery, I was a little used to the kinds of things they would ask you to do. Last time, I made the mistake of looking at the photos of real surgery, and while they were a little too much for me, Greta looked at them all. This time, I did not look at the photos. I am still squeamish around anything like this that could be real, I really enjoy these games. If anyone can find a new one, please post it! I think these games get a 10 star rating.

I loved this! It gives me a new perspective on surgery. Even though the surgery photos creeped me out a bit, I still loved it. I hope we get to see more of these surgeries on the blog because I will definitely do them!

I was extremely confused. I sort of understood it but I didn't understand any of the words. It was somewhat entertaining and very educational. I loved how it was the characters were cartoons yet the surgery looked so real. However, I think they should have stopped and explained what some of the words were.

I loved this game! It was so much fun! There were a few issues though: They did not give directions for some parts of the surgery, if you play the game again it is the same woman and same size for her hip, and I wish that they had shown what would have happened if you did something wrong. The only other bad thing was that the pictures of a real hip surgery were a little graphic (I could never be a surgen), but that is what it really looks like. In conclusion, I really enjoyed this game and give a nine out of ten. I am looking forward to more games like this though!

I think that this was a great website. It didn't have too much blood or other things typically found in surgery making it much less gruesome. It can teach kids how surgeries like these work. Overall I thought that this was a great and educational game that would be great in classrooms.

I commend EdHeads on yet another great virtual surgery! It has the perfect balance of education and activity. In the beginning, the head surgeon tells you about the science behind hip replacements, and even shows us how to fit a prosthetic hip correctly. The actual surgery is really fun also because as you go, they explain what all of the tools do, which is really helpful. I don't thnk it would be as enjoyable if you didn't understand all of the tools. Also, the animation is impeccable. If you want to participate in the surgery but don't want so see all of the gore of a real surgery, EdHeads gives you that option. It still looks like actual muscles and everything, but not gross. I also like that you have the option to see actual photos after the animated version. It provides a way to see it for real for those people whose stomachs can handle it, but squeamish people don't have to look at them. I give this game 5 stars because of how great all aspects of it were.

I really enjoyed this game. Although it was animated I still thought that it was really gross. And even though I didn't look at the real pictures I learned a lot. It was a very complicated process and if someone told me to list it I would fail. I also really liked that the doctor stopped and quizzed you on a question to see how much knowledge you have. This game taught me a lot about hip surgery because I didn't know anything. Overall I give this game a 9 out of 10.

I also did the virtual knee replacement surgery, and have actually done this surgery twice before, as well as a deep brain stimulation surgery, and a heart valve replacement on this site. I find all of them very interesting and love that they are interactive. I also love to look at the photos of the real surgeries. They give you a feel of how it would be to have a job as a surgeon. Overall, I think that this site is great and I only wish that they had more virtual surgeries to do.

On edheads, I have already done the virtual knee replacement, and I have tried out some other cool games on my own. It is a great way to interact as if you were a surgeon. It was a great to learn all about the process and the details of hip surgery. During the virtual knee replacement, you were free to do everything in the process. However, this time, the other surgeon did some of the parts for you. Maybe some of the steps would make people feel uncomftorble. Overall, this game and the edheads website are great.

I thought that this game was entertaining, educational, and authentic! I loved playing this, not just because I'm one of those people who likes blood, but because it was just so awesome, and felt so real! The pictures of the real surgery were pretty gruesome, I must say! I enjoyed how it let you take control, and use your own knowledge to answer questions. I think that this is a very good game for anyone from around my age all the way up to a High School Senior. I look forward to hopefully the blog having more of these games. I would rate this game a 9 out of 10 stars. It was awesome because I was having fun learning, playing something!

This game was exactly like the knee replacement surgery, but it was still very fun. It had lots of cool effects. My favorite effect was the cutting with the scalpel. The part I liked more in this surgery is that there was less quizzing and more actual surgery. This person talked more however. This says that all of the surgery characters have a different style. Overall this game was very fun and educational.

I loved the knee replacement surgery, and I loved this surgery too! Edheads always has fun activities such as surgery, and a crash scene investigation. I do recall playing this surgery before it was assigned because I loved the knee surgery from the previous blog post (by Ms. Ghazarian). Out of 10 stars I would give it a perfect score because it is humorous, fun, and educational.

Again I was impressed with Edheads, because everything about it is just spectacular in every way. The pictures are great, it's educational but not boring, and it makes surgeries fun! I agree with Ally Oh., because although I'm a fan of blood, I don't actually like seeing blood in an actual human body... that just grosses me out. Therefore, I'm happy that they didn't make this game disgusting because it made it much more enjoyable. Like Sophia said, not only is this game educational, but also entertaining. In conclusion, I'd definitely give this game a 10 out of 10, because it exceeded my expectations and was a really fun game overall.

Wow! This game was very entertaining and educational. I had done the other Edheads knee surgery game that was posted on the blog and enjoyed that one as well. Since of course I don't know how to complete a hip surgery, I felt a little uneasy as I did when I first did the knee surgery. But again, the instructions were specific enough and easy to understand. This game was a lot of fun to play, and made it feel like I was actually performing a hip surgery. After playing the game, I looked at some real hip surgery photos. It was a bit gruesome, and everything looked bloody and mushy. In the cartoon, it was easy to see and understand where certain muscles were and where each bone was, but looking at the real surgery photos, it was a bit difficult to know where everything was. However, like Sophia said, this game is just fun, but besides that, it isn't really helpful. Not all of us are going to become surgeons one day. Overall I rate this game 4 out of 5 stars.

I found this game very fun because it gives us a realistic experience of taking out and replacing a person's hip. This is interesting because I have always wondered how some things are done, and bone replacement surgeries are one of them. I agree with Alec A that they did not ask many questions, which made it more interesting than some of the other surgeries on this website. They just skipped us ahead to the surgery. In conclusion, I found this game interesting and educational.

I immediately clicked on this after having seen it was another EdHeads Surgery. This one was just as engaging and hands on, but I think the surgeon should not have guided you so much, perhaps a little bit of manual control? I looked at the real life surgery photos, and though they are slightly gruesome they are not as you think they may be, because they block of blood flow so that a surgeon can operate in just the small area, without too much blood. The procedure was very fascinating, and it was interesting to learn how they operate on the bones and how they use the replacement parts in order to drill into the bone and create stronger hip components.

I really loved this surgery. I think that I learned much more about this topic than I usually do when it is just reading an article because this was hands on. After looking at the surgery photos I realized that what we were doing was pretty close. I never really knew how hip surgery went. My grandma had hip surgery and I had not idea what the actual process was. But now after I did this interactive lesson, I think I know much more. The only thing I thought could have been better was that it was all set you could not actually stitch it or cut it in anyway you wanted. I give this "article" an A++.

I thought that this game was fun. I learned the details of a hip replacement surgery. Before this, I knew almost nothing about surgery. This was fun but also educational.
